Reacting to the issuance of summons in the National Herald case to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Thursday said that the summons were issued on a 'stale' complaint but added that the party will file a strong and vigorous response to it.
"This is a stale complaint made in 2013. We have not yet received the summons but you can rest assured that a fitting, vigorous and appropriate response will be given after we have received it," said Singhvi.
Singhvi also said that Dr. Subramanian Swamy is known for his personal and motivated campaign against the Congress and added that the party will file its response to this completely false and motivated campaign.
"Allegations made over a year ago merely leads to issuance of process. Issuance of process on a stale complaint is not something they are exited out. We will seek comprehensive legal advice and all their allegations in this respect will be demolished," he said.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi, along with son Rahul Gandhi, has been summoned by a Delhi court here in connection with the National Herald newspaper case. They will have to appear personally in court on August 7.
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy had filed a complaint against the Gandhi scions of swindling the newspaper's funds.
He told ANI, "They have to face trial for this. The deal had taken place in 2002 and they have been named as accused. They have taken the Congress property and 76 percent share is of Sonia Gandhi.
