World Cup venue constructors have revealed that the roof of the stadium hosting the tournament opener next month would not be completed in time for the kick-off.

Construction company Oderbrecht reportedly gave their confirmation that a part of the roof at the Itaquerao would only be finished after the World Cup, as there was not enough time to install the glass covers that were supposed to be added to the stadium's roofing structure.

According to Stuff.co.nz, with the time limit Oderbrecht and local organisers have decided to postpone the work until after the tournament.

The construction company said that missing covers would not affect the fans watching matches in the stadium, although it looks from photos as if more people would be covered from rain if they were in place at the stadium.

Meanwhile, Friday, the company that is in charge of 20,000 temporary seats for the opener, said that it successfully addressed all health and safety issues that had resulted in prosecutors threatening to halt work at the venue.

The Itaquerao, which is one of the three stadiums that is yet to be completed ahead of the World Cup, will reportedly host five World Cup matches, including one of the semifinals, the report added.
