Newly-crowned titular head of Mysore, King Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, on Thursday said that continued support and cooperation will ensure the survival of the 600-year-old culture of the House of Wadiyar.

"Continued support and cooperation will ensure that our heritage will survive. Our heritage, that is the House of Wadiyar, has been intertwined with that of the Deccan, that of the Kannada culture and that of Karnataka for over 600 years and the continued support and cooperation ensures that that 600-year-old culture stays alive," said King Yaduveer.

"I have some milestones of my own. It will be some time before I can completely define them and move towards achieving them," he added.

The 23-year-old was anointed the 27th Wadiyar King of Mysore at the Amba Vilas Palace in the city earlier today.

His coronation was welcomed by various leaders, who hoped it would inspire the youth of the state.

"He is a young person, highly educated and qualified. I hope he will inspire the youth of Karnataka and the country," said Karnataka Home Minister KJ George.

"The contribution made by the rulers of the dynasty is something not to be forgotten by the past, present, and the future generations," said Janata Dal (Secular) president HD Deve Gowda.
