Police have contacted Prince Charles and Mohamed Al Fayed as investigations are underway over the sensational claim that the SAS killed Princess Diana.

The Metropolitan Police said that they are also contacting Lord Justice Scott Baker, the senior judge who presided over the inquest into her death, the Mirror reported.

The claims were passed to Scotland Yard by the Royal Military Police (RMP), which was told of them by the former parents-in-law of a former soldier based on information that the ex-soldier had talked about in the past.

According to the Sunday People, a letter given to the RMP also refers to the princess' "secret diary," in which she made certain allegations.

The letter claimed the soldier was the special forces member who was the former housemate of Sergeant Danny Nightingale, who was found guilty of illegally possessing a gun and ammunition.
