'Coronation Street' stars David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh swept the British Soap Awards 2014 claiming a total of six wins between them.
The actors, who played the married couple Roy and Hayley Cropper in the ITV series for 16 years, were awarded Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Dramatic Performance for Neilson, Best On-Screen Partnership, Best Storyline for Hayley's cancer and Best Single Episode for Hayley's death from pancreatic cancer in January 2014, the Mirror reported.
The 44-year-old actress said that working with Neilson, 65, was like being in a real marriage and that kind of working relationship comes once in a lifetime, she added.
Neilson added that though he's pleased with what they have achieved, he doesn't pride it much as the storyline had taken a toll on his personal life.
The series also won actress Helen Worth the Outstanding Achievement award for playing Gail McIntyre for 40 years, Best Comedy Performance for Simon Gregson and Sexiest Female for Michelle Keegan.
Other show's that made their mark at the awards included 'Hollyoaks', 'EastEnders' and 'Emmerdale', where the Channel 4 soap won Best Soap, Sexiest Male for Danny Mac, Best Villain for Anna Passey, Best Young Performance for Ellis Hollins.
