Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho believes that his team should now turn their focus on the FA Cup, insisting that the securing the title will salvage Brendan Rodgers' side's otherwise disappointing season.
Following a 4-1 defeat against Arsenal on Saturday, manager Rodgers had admitted that Liverpool would struggle to make a top-four finish at the end of the Premier League season, thus virtually ending their hopes of Champions League qualification.
Ahead of the FA Cup quarterfinal replay against Blackburn on Wednesday evening, Liverpool midfielder Coutinho said that winning the cup would save their season, insisting that it is very important for them to have that as an objective, Sport24 reported.
Coutinho added that they have to pick themselves up after what happened against Arsenal to get the results that they needed.
Liverpool have not won the FA Cup since 2006, and will travel to Ewood Park in the hope of setting up a semi-final clash with Aston Villa at Wembley.
