In the wake of England's shock exit from the World Cup, cricketing legends have expressed their grief and disappointment, describing the Eoin Morgan-led team as 'pathetic', 'disappointing' and 'not good enough'.

England suffered a 15-run defeat to a spirited Bangladesh on Monday in a match they had to win to stay in the tournament.

Reflecting on the team's performance, former England skipper Alec Stewart said that they needed to find a method of how they wanted to play and stick with that, admitting that to do anything then within 12 hours was not the way forward as it would be stupid, the BBC reported.

Meanwhile, former England skipper Andrew Strauss said that the truth was they were not good enough, insisting that they couldn't compete with Bangladesh and they certainly cannot compete with Australia and South Africa.

Echoing similar views, former all-rounder Ian Bothan described the team performance as 'pathetic' and called for a change, asking when they were going to pick the selectors to pick a team for the one-day format.

Though England are eliminated from the ongoing World Cup, Morgan's men have one more game in their hands and will face Afghanistan on Friday in Sydney.
