Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Siddharth Nath Singh on Monday said that the crime rate in Bihar has escalated since Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has joined hands with Rashtriya Janta Dal(RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav.

"The crime rate in Bihar has escalated since Nitish Kumar sat on the lap of Lalu Prasad (jungle raj). This is the statistics of the Bihar Government," Singh told ANI here.

The BJP leader also pointed on the poor performance record of the Congress when it was in power at the Centre.

"Congress on the other hand also has a poor record of development. The GDP was 8.4 percent when BJP ended its Lok Sabha term in 2004 and Congress came to power. The same GDP declined to 4.4 percent in 2014 when they (UPA) left and BJP came to power," Singh said.
