Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sudhanshu Trivedi today said that crime rate has increased in Uttar Pradesh since the time Samajwadi Party has come to power in the state.
"There is series of communal violence going on in UP from the last three years. The centre is very sensitive regarding this. Home minister Rajnath Singh has in fact even spoken to Akhilesh Yadav regarding these issues," said Trivedi.
"Since the time the Samajwadi Party had come to power in UP, the crime rate has increased, be it by the constant reports of politicians being murdered or the increasing crime against women and all this clearly shows the failure of SP government," he added.
On Saturday morning violent clashes had erupted in Saharanpur amongst two groups who reportedly clashed over a patch of disputed land close to the city's railway station.
