A 10-year-old critically ill boy became Police Commissioner of Jaipur for a day on Thursday.
The joys of Girish, who suffers from severe kidney infection, knew no bounds when his wish got fulfilled.
Clad in a khaki uniform and a cap, he beamed with pride when police officers of the Jaipur Police Commissionerate saluted him.
He 'signed' papers, addressed a news conference and also had a snappy salute for the cameras, baton tucked under one arm.
"I want to become a police officer ... I want to catch thieves," said Girish.
While in hospital, Girish had expressed his desire to "Make a Wish Foundation" - a voluntary organization that works with terminally ill children that he wanted to be Police Commissioner.
"If a person is interested in becoming a police officer then it reflects on what they think about the police system as such. They think good about the police system, that's one reason why probably the small child thought of joining the police service and he wants to become a commissioner. So, probably a very good sign for the police department, as when things go positive in the society," said Jaipur Police Commissioner, Janga Rao.

Rao readily agreed to step aside for a day, saying he felt happy to fulfill little Girish's wish.
"He has critical kidney infection. The infection has spread and he has bleak chance of life. Doctors said he might get well, but he needs to continue medicines all his life. He is just 10-year-old," said Girish's father, Jagdish Sharma.
Sharma added that it was the happiest day of his life as he witnessed his son's dream being fulfilled.
