A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan lost his life on Sunday after terrorists opened fire on a CRPF camp at Railway Colony in Pulwama's Kakapora area.
The CRPF jawan, identified as 53-year old Head Constable Chandrika Prasad, received bullet injury and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The terrorist attack was successfully repulsed by the CRPF. The security forces cordoned off the area and initiated search operation to nab the terrorists while trying to escape.
There was an exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists. Further details will follow.
Earlier in the day, two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Rebban area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.
According to police, the deceased were identified as Nawaz Wagay of Zainpora Shopian and Yawar Wani of Litter Pulwama. Both the terrorists were associated with terror outfit Al-Badr.
