Cuba Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel will visit India on a three-day official visit on March 23.
During his visit, Vice President Diaz-Canel will call on President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This is the first visit of a Cuban Vice President to India.
India and Cuba have warm and friendly relations, with India amongst the first countries to recognise Cuba after the 1959 Revolution. India supports resolutions in the UN General Assembly, calling for the lifting of US sanctions against Cuba.
In 2008, India had granted an aid of USD two million as disaster relief assistance to Cuba in the wake of massive devastations caused by the hurricanes Gustav, Ike and Paloma in that country.
