After getting on to a faltering start in their World Cup opener against Zimbabwe, South Africa all-rounder JP Duminy and batsman David Miller posted a ton each to help them set up a mammoth 340-run target to pave the way for their 62-run win against Elton Chigumbura's men.
After openers Quinton De Kock (7) and Hashim Amla (11) failed to get South Africa to a solid start, and Faf du Plessis (24) and skipper AB de Villiers (25) not contributing too much to the scoreline, it was upto the middle-order batsmen to take South Africa to a formidable total.
And Duminy and Miller did just that as they remained unbeaten on their individual 115 and 138 respectively to take South Africa to 339-4 in their allotted 50 overs.
After Zimbabwe, who had opted to field first, went in to bat, their opener Chamu Chibhabha set up a 105-run partnership for the second wicket with batsman Hamilton Masakadza, scoring their individual 64 and 80 runs before they both fell prey to Imran Tahir's deliveries.
Wicketkeeper batsman Brendan Taylor also contributed 40 with the bat, but the rest of the Zimbabwean batting line-up failed to score past 30 runs individually as they were bowled out for 277 with 10 balls to spare.
Miller was announced as the Player of the Match for his splendid 138-unbeaten knock that helped South Africa post the mammoth total.
