The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) on Monday discussed the strategic partnership issue.

Sources said, the substantial ground has been covered and things are moving forward.

Defence Minister Arun Jaitley last month chaired the DAC meeting and took stock of the various proposals directed towards close monitoring and expeditious clearance of pending capital acquisitions cases, particularly those at the CFA and CNC stages.

The DAC approved Capital Acquisition Proposals totalling over Rs. 860 crore.

The important proposals approved by the DAC included:

-Procurement of Expendable Bathy Thermograph Systems for the Indian Navy with a categorisation of Buy Global under the FMS Route from USA
