Star batsman AB de Villiers will miss the opportunity to play 100 Tests on the trot after he was allowed to take paternity leave by the South African Cricket Board.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) said in a statement that De Villiers has been granted paternity leave and will miss the two-test series in Bangladesh, Sport24 reported.

CSA said that he was included in the ODI and T20 squads, but excluded from the Test squad because he wife was due to give birth to their first child.

One-day captain De Villiers, however, will play the limited over matches preceding the tests.

De Villiers currently holds the record for consecutive Tests since making his Test debut, but he will unfortunately not be racking up another century in that regard.

Australian great Allan Border holds the record for most consecutive Tests- 153, followed by England skipper Alastair Cook (111 and counting), Australia's Mark Waugh (107) and former India captain Sunil Gavaskar (106).
