The family members of Mohammad Akhlaq, who was beaten to death in Dadri's Bishada village over rumours that he had stored beef at his residence, today demanded justice and urged all politicians not to politicise the issue.

"I never expected something like this, we were brought up in this village and everything was done with unity," Akhlaq's son Mohammed Sartaz told ANI.

"I want to request all the political leaders not to politicise the issue. I appeal to the people to maintain the unity of the nation. All the problems that will come, we all should face them together," he added.

Uttar Pradesh Minority Welfare and Urban Development Minister Azam Khan had earlier said that he would take the issue of rampant communal violence in India to the United Nations and also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop those who are spreading violence and communalism across the country.

The leaders of various political parties have urged Prime Minister Modi to break his silence on the case.

Two main accused in the case, Shivam and Vishal, were arrested on Saturday, raising the total number of accused in the case to eight.

Fifty-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched and his son Danish (22) was beaten up for allegedly eating and storing beef on September 28.
