Dalai Lama receives U.S. envoy in Dharamsala

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama received U.S. Special coordinator for Tibetan Issues Sarah Sewall, at the airport as she arrived in Dharamsala, along with other delegates to discuss Tibetan refugee issues.

Dalai Lama, along with the officials of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) welcomed Sewall and the eight-member delegation at Kangra Airport in Himachal Pradesh.

Secretary of Social and Resource Development of CTA Ngodup Dorjee, said that he had come to receive the delegates.

"On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), we have come here to receive them. They wanted to visit CTA Dharamsala and also some of the projects funded by the state department," said Dorjee.

The eight-member delegation is on a two-day visit to India. A meet with Prime Minister In-Exile Lobsang Sangay, has also been scheduled.

According to a press release from the US State Department, Sewall will announce a new award of USD 3.2 million for a Tibetan Health System Strengthening Project to universalise access to quality health services to end child and maternal deaths and create tuberculosis free communities for Tibetan refugee communities in India and Nepal.
