The Maharashtra government on Friday suspended four police officers and ordered a department enquiry against them for submitting false reports in the dance bars case.

In a series of tweets, the Chief Minister's Office said that three police inspectors and one assistant police inspector have been suspended for 'dereliction of duty and false reporting'.

Mumbai Police Commissioner D. D. Padsalgikar had sought a report from these officers regarding compliance of conditions set out by the state government with the Supreme Court's approval for granting licenses to dance bars.

The cops submitted false reports following which Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis suspended them and ordered action against them.

Earlier, in the wake of the Supreme Court order on resumption of dance bars in Maharashtra, the state government granted licences to owners of four such bars.
