Congress MP and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's son, Deepender Singh Hooda, on Wednesday urged the people here to vote for his party if they think that the state government has worked for their welfare.

"If you think we have worked for your welfare in the last nine years then support us, if not then you may also punish us," Deepender said.

"Cast your votes after listening to everyone and weighing everyone's intentions through your wisdom," he added.

Expressing confidence that the Congress would emerge victorious for the third time in Haryana, Deepender said: "In this entire belt, the Congress party will get majority. After the BJP came to power, the rate of the crops went down and they will have to answer for that."

Taking a jibe at BJP president Amit Shah, Deepender said: "Amit Shah was scheduled to address a rally here yesterday, got to hear the rally got cancelled as only 300 people turned up."

Deepender, along with his father, has been holding a slew of rallies across Haryana in a bid to make sure that the Congress forms government in the state once again.

The election for 90-member Haryana Assembly is scheduled to be held on October 15.
