Launching a blistering attack on Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over the panama paper leak and Army Chief General Raheel Sharif seeking a second term in office, defence expert P. Bakshi on Saturday said it is high time for the Indian Armed forces to start pre-emptive strikes and push Islamabad on the back foot.

"It is high time that we move towards pre-emptive strikes instead of retaliation. We need to imbibe concrete policies so as to support our strike. Unless we don't do it, Pakistan cannot be pushed back. If we give more space to Pakistan, the ongoing ceasefire violation will not stop," Bakshi told ANI.

"Nawaz Sharif's throne is getting challenged, Raheel Sharif is seeking extension in his term. The government is deliberately suppressing the information on surgical strikes," he added.

The defence expert also suggested that the Indian Army needs to conduct more surgical strikes in order to retaliate the ceasefire violations.

Earlier today, heavy mortar shelling by Pakistan was reported in Kathua and Abdullian area of the RS Pura Sector of Jammu and Kashmir. However, no casualty has been reported so far.

Last night, an Indian soldier lost his life and a terrorist was neutralised in an encounter close to the Line of Control in Machhal sector.

During the encounter, one of the terrorists mutilated the body of the soldier before fleeing into Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).

"This barbarism is a true reflection which pervades in official and non-official organisations across the border. This act will invite an appropriate response," the Indian Army said in a statement.
