Defence ministry clears acquisition of weapons system worth over Rs. 7000 crores

The Ministry of Defence has reportedly given clearance for acquisition of weapons system valued at over Rs. 7000 crores.

According to sources, the clearance for the acquisition was given by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) on Friday.

The DAC meeting which was reportedly attended by the service chief, excluding the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba, who is on an official visit to Japan, and the senior MoD officials cleared acquisition of indigenously made 1500 developed and designed modernised nuclear, chemical, biological systems for fitment in infantry vehicles of the army costing Rs. 1265 crores; 55 3D low level lightweight radars for the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) worth Rs. 419 crores; one more C17 Globemaster mark III and multi mission maritime aircraft costing approx. Rs. 5005 crores.
