Pakistan Test and ODI captain Misbah-ul Haq has dismissed suggestions that he should step down from his post following the team's poor performance in recent times and strong criticism of his leadership.

Under Misbah, Pakistan lost a test in Zimbabwe in September and was thumped 4-1 by South Africa in the just-concluded one-day series in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Sport24, although many former greats felt that Misbah's batting lacked aggression and that he was uninspiring as a leader despite being the leading ODI scorer this year, however, the veteran batsman insisted that he has intentions of quitting and will continue to play as long as he is in form.

Misbah however, said that as far as captaincy is concerned, he has no issues with what is decided by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) even though it is an honour for him to lead his country.

The right-hand batsman has a 73.39 strike rate in ODIs but his critics believe it was not enough, the report added.
