The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested two officials working for the Ministry of Rural Development in connection with a bribery case from the national capital on Tuesday.
According to reports, a case had been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (1988) on allegations that a Section Officer was demanding bribe of Rs. 68,000 for clearing bills worth around Rs 6.8 lakh of the complainant, who supplied cars on rent to the ministry.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the Section Officer red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 45,000 from the complainant.
Pursuant to the recovery of the bribe amount and in a subsequent investigation, a Deputy Secretary was also arrested in the case.
The CBI will produce both the accused before the designated court in Delhi on May 6
