A Delhi Court on Monday dismissed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti's anticipatory bail plea in the domestic violence case filed against him by his wife Lipika Mitra.
Lipika had filed a complaint with the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) in June, accusing him of domestic violence and mental torture since 2010.
Bharti was earlier named in an FIR filed under several Sections of the Indian Penal code (IPC), including domestic violence and attempt to murder.
Lipika had said that she was ready to face any consequence if the accusations made by her are proved wrong.
"Bharti being a leader and a responsible citizen should not do whatever he is doing. If charges against him ( Somnath Bharti) are proved wrong, I'm ready to face any consequences," Mitra told ANI earlier.
Lipika has been married to Bharti since 2010, but has been living separately from him since 2012 along with the couple's two children in a rented accommodation in Dwarka.
