Garbage piled on the streets in the national capital as the sanitation crisis hit the city again with the municipal corporations going on strike and a political mudslinging fest over it.

The 'Safai karamcharis' of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) protested outside the Shahdara (South) Zone office and left garbage piling on the streets in a sign of protest.

The heap of refuse was seen in areas like Patpadganj and on the streets of Shastri Park.

The workers have threatened to prolong their protest across the city if their demands of permanent jobs, arrears and cash-less medical insurance are not met soon.

The three Mayors of different corporations met Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in a bid to find a solution to end the strike but no concrete outcome came after the meeting.

However, they demanded that the tussle between the Delhi government and the centre be put on hold and that the problems being faced by the MCD employees be solved.
