A student of New Green Field School in New Delhi's Saket area, M Gayatri, has scored the highest marks in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII examination this year.

Gayatri scored a stunning score of 496 out of 500, clocking a massive 99.2 percent in her exams.

As celebrations erupted at her home and school, the teenager said she was confident of scoring above 95 percent marks, but had never expected to be the All India top ranker.

"I used to study like a normal student regularly for five to six hours a day. But I never took tuition for any subject. My teachers helped me a lot. They used to clarify our doubts on a regular basis, give us

sample papers for practice, and would also check them and give feedback regarding the same. My parents also supported me," Gayatri told ANI.

"Right now, I am preparing for Chartered Accountant (CA) exam," she added.
