The Lt. Governor of Delhi, Najeeb Jang, has issued new guidelines for nursery admissions in schools in the national capital.
Under the new system, selection will be done on the basis of fixed parameters and points, including neighbourhood criteria and sibling study in schools.
The maximum weightage has been given to neighbourhood criteria for which 70 points have been fixed and it constitutes a distance of up to six kilometers from schools.
There will also be no management quota in admission to any of the schools.
This time five per cent seats will be reserved for employees of the school and five per cent for the girls in co-educational schools, which will be filled through, draw of lots of applicants residing within the six kilometer area.
Like other schools, minority schools will also have to reserve 25 per seats for the economically weaker sections of society.
The admission for the nursery classes will start from January 15, and the last date for submission of applications will be January 31.
