The Delhi High Court on Monday reserved its order on the bail plea of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who has been arrested on charges of sedition for allegedly raising anti-national in the varsity campus.

The court will pronounce its decision on March 2.

Senior Lawyer Kabil Sibal, appearing for Kanhaiya Kumar, argued that the JNUSU president did not raise anti-national slogans, as he was merely there to resolve the fight between the two groups.

The High Court, during the hearing, asked Delhi Police if there is any video footage which shows Kanhaiya raising slogans. The court also said that to be present there and to participate in slogan mongering are two different things.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Government asked in the court that how can Kanhaiya be held responsible if people from outside JNU came and raised slogans.

Responding to this, the Delhi Police said that Kanhaiya cannot be seen shouting slogans in any of the videos, but, they have eyewitnesses who have seen him doing so.

The Delhi Government also supported his bail in court saying there is no proof against him and no innocent should be in jail.

Meanwhile, another JNU student Ashutosh Kumar, who is among the six students to have been charged with sedition, was questioned by the police yesterday in connection with the case.

The students face sedition charges for allegedly raising anti-national slogans at the JNU campus during an event earlier this month.
