Delhi Home Minister Satyendra Jain on Monday called for the relevant authorities to arrest the policeman who assaulted a woman driver with a brick, saying that the former's suspension was not punishment enough.
"I was very disappointed when I saw the video of the incident. The Delhi Police has suspended the policeman but in my opinion, he should be arrested. The Delhi Police should train their personnel to interact with the public in a professional manner," Jain told ANI.
"The policeman is still not able to stop taking bribes. Why is that the case? Suspension is no punishment; he will be back on the force within two months. He must be arrested for the crime he has committed," he added.
Earlier in the day, a woman driver was assaulted by a policeman after the latter allegedly demanded a bribe.
The incident was caught on camera by a passerby. The victim was on her way home after picking up her children from school on her two-wheeler.
