Delhi, NCR teachers suggest best practices for sustaining quality in higher education

Amity Institute of Education, New Delhi jointly with National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) organized a two-day seminar on "Quality in Higher Education

Professor Dr. Ranjana Bhatia, Principal, Amity Institute of Education, Delhi and Professor J.S. Rajput, Formerly Director, NCERT inaugurated the seminar.

Sharing his views during the occasion, Professor Rajput emphasised the need of developing sustainable policies for ensuring quality in higher education.

He remarked that strengthening of primary and secondary education is essential for increasing Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in higher education.

He stressed upon the need of value based education and the need to imbibe social and work cultural qualities like punctuality, persistence of learning, pursuit of excellence, responsibility towards social changes and analytical approach in ensuring quality in higher education..

The participants of the seminar included faculty members of the Teacher Training Colleges of various universities across the country and school teachers from several schools of the NCR Some of the participating Universities included Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Lucknow, Chaudhary Charan Singh University,Meerut, Banasthali University, Rajasthan, Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad ,Delhi University ,Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, Haridwar, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Aligarh Muslim University and Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida

During the day , four session unfolded on the sub themes- "Quality assurance in higher education- Internal and external approaches", "Approaches to overcome challenges for ensuring quality", "Identifying existing quality standards for teaching and administration in the institutes of higher education" and "Developing best practices for sustaining quality in higher education".

The participants presented their views on the sub themes in a very lucid manner bringing about the internal and external approaches for assuring quality in higher education, talking about the challenges in maintaining the quality and ways of overcoming those challenges. Some of the participants talked about the best practices in sustaining quality in higher education.

The two day seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation by the teachers who came up with innovative ideas and suggestions on the main theme and the sub themes of the seminar.
