The Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of ATM burglars by apprehending two members of the gang--Narender and Deshraj. On specific inputs, they were nabbed from a government school near Nasirpur village.
The gang was busted by Special Team for Active Robbers and Snatchers (STAR-I) of the Crime Branch. The arrested duo are residents of Rohtak district in Haryana and are accused in seven cases related to ATM burglary in Delhi and NCR area.
In a press statement, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) G Ram Gopal Naik said: "Several incidents of ATM burglary have been reported in the outskirt of Delhi, Gurugram, and Rohtak. One such incident was reported in Jaffarpur Kalan area in Delhi a while back."
Acting on the complaint, a team of STAR-I kept a watch over the suspected criminals in Delhi-NCR region and after going through the modus operandi of these types of incidents, a team under the leadership of Inspector Arun Chauhan was formed to bust the gang.
"During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they along with their friends targeted specific isolated ATMs and removed the whole machines with the help of gas cutters. They later shifted the machines to Kalawad in Rohtak and after dismantling them, took out the whole cash and distributed the bounty among themselves," said Naik.
A case in this regard has been registered against them under Section 41 of CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure). Further investigation is on.
