The women's wing of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organised a bike rally led by actor-turned-politician Gul Panag here on Wednesday ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections.

This bike rally was organised in Krishna Nagar assembly constituency from where Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi is contesting the elections.

AAP supporters from across the country converged in the capital to take part in the rally.

Panag, who led the rally riding her trademark Bullet bike, said it was an important display of female emancipation.

"We believe that women are equal stakeholders in society and that they have an equal role to play in society and that is the fact that is on display here today as men try and come and take pictures with us. It is an important display of female emancipation I think and the fact that women own the roads as much as men do," she said.

Shefali Mishra, a member of AAP's women's wing, said that only Kejriwal could make empowerment of women in Delhi a reality.

"The message that we want to convey through this rally is that the people of Delhi cannot be fooled by positioning a single woman candidate. This (BJP) is the same party which speaks of religious conversion, this is the same party which tells women to have at least four children," she said.

AAP supporters said the rally was aimed at telling the women of Delhi that they could trust Kejriwal regarding their security.

The polls will be a direct fight between BJP and AAP after the Congress party, which ruled Delhi for uninterrupted 15 years, recorded its worst performance bagging only eight seats in the December 2013 polls.

The results would be announced on February 10.
