A confident Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Meenakshi Lekhi on Thursday said that her party would emerge victorious in the Delhi Assembly polls and added that the ongoing surveys are far from truth.
"If anybody could win because of surveys or surveys predicted everything right then I would not have been an elected MP and Mr. Modi would not have been the PM of this country, because the surveys had predicted his loss and my loss. The fact that we have won and not just won but won by convincing margins only goes to show that these surveys are far from truth," Lekhi said.
"Especially when people like Mr. Kejriwal starts complaining about the EVMs and things, also goes to show that he is predicting his defeat and he knows his party members, one by one, have left him. When people from Congress are joining BJP, people from various other parties are supporters of Mr. Narendra Modi- from business to traders to vendors, everyone is supporting Mr. Modi. So, there is no question of us not making the government," she added.
With just few hours left for the campaigning to end for the high-voltage Delhi Assembly polls, several surveys have given a slight edge to the Arvind Kejriwal- led AAP and placed the BJP at the second spot.
The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 7. The counting of votes will take place on February 10.
