Eminent personalities from various walks of life were recently felicitated at the 13th Sa Ma Pa Sangeet Sammelan (Sopori Academy of Music And Performing Arts) here.
The three-day musical extravaganza saw the distribution of the prestigious SaMaPa awards such as the SaMaPa Vitasta Award', 'SaMaPa Kala Vardhan Samman' 'SaMaPa Nund Rishi Samman' SaMaPa Acharya Abhinavgupt Samman' 'SaMaPa Sangeet Tejasvi Samman' and SaMaPa Yuva Ratan Samman'.
SaMaPa also felicitated various personalities from Kashmir who have contributed to their respective fields bringing laurels to the state. They included R.C. Ganjoo (Journalism), Dr. Ridwana Sanam (Medicine) and Nuzhat Gul (Sports).
The 'SaMaPa Vitasta Award' was presented to the veteran Tabla maestro Pt. Anindo Chatterjee (Kolkata) and vocalist Pt. Vinayak Torvi (Bengaluru) for their lifetime contribution to Hindustani classical music.
The 'SaMaPa Kala Vardhan Samman' was given to the Ahmedabad-based cultural organisation Saptak.
The 'SaMaPa Nund Rishi Samman' was conferred upon one of the greatest living anthropologist of the world Dr. T N Madan for his contribution to socio-cultural history of Kashmir.

This year, the award was presented to eminent Rudra Veena exponent Ustad Mohi Bahauddin Dagar (Maharashtra), eminent Flute maestro Pt. Chetan Joshi (Delhi) and well known Composer Jaspal Moni (Delhi).
The 'SaMaPa Yuva Ratan Samman' was conferred upon Rishi Shankar Upadhyay (Delhi) in recognition of talent and achievements in the field of Hindustani classical music (Pakhawaj).
Sa Ma Pa is the well known music academy and organisation of India established by music legend Pandit Bhajan Sopori and his son Abhay Rustum Sopori.
The festival is a calendar event of Delhi and attracts connoisseurs of music from various parts of the country and abroad.
The festival features performance by 50+ artists.
