Dev Shetty, Chief Operating Officer of Gemfields - the world's largest supplier of coloured
gemstones - was recently felicitated with "Bharat Gaurav Award" at the British Parliament.
"Bharat Gaurav Award" is prestigious award for Indians from all over the world, who have achieved overwhelming success in their respective
field and made India proud globally.
Shetty was felicitated for his significant contribution in the global mining industry with a particular focus on colour gemstone and his efforts to making Gemfields the world's leading supplier of responsibly sourced coloured gemstones, specializing in emeralds and amethysts from Zambia and rubies from Mozambique.
Shetty, a chartered accountant from Mumbai, shifted to United Kingdom in 2006. He has been associated with leading reputed companies like ssel Propack and Pallinghurst Group, where he specialized in start-ups, mergers and cquisitions, business turnaround, strategic planning, treasury, tax and financial reporting.
Apart from Shetty, other prominent personalities to be felicitated at the event were Indian hockey legend late Dhyan Chand, Noble Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi (India), Indira Nooyi (CEO Pepsi); Dr. Virendra Sharma-British Member of Parliament (London); S Vyasa University Bangalore chancellor; Anshuman Singh -Ex Governor Justice (Rajasthan and Gujarat) amongst many others.
