Disappointed by his side's Champions League final defeat against Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has admitted that losing two title attempts against Zinedine Zidane's side in last three years is a 'failure'.
Star striker Cristiano Ronaldo smashed a match-winning penalty as Real Madrid grabbed the Champions League title for an unprecedented 11th time after completing a 5-3 shootout victory against Atletico Madrid at San Siro stadium last evening.
"Nobody remembers the ones who finish second. To lose two finals is a failure. We must now go home and tend to our wounds," Simeone was quoted as saying by goal.com.
The Atletico manager, however, congratulated Real on their victory, saying that the latter were once again superior than his side.
"We started the game badly, and then we got ourselves organized from the 20th minute. In the second half we could have equalized very quickly but our intention was clear," he added.
After both the sides equalized the score, the match was sent to the extra time.
