Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday took to twitter to express his disappointment over recent hate speeches delivered by party leader Giriraj Singh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Praveen Togadia.
"I disapprove any such irresponsible statement and appeal to those making them to kindly refrain from doing so," Modi tweeted.
"Petty statements by those claiming to be BJP's well wishers are deviating the campaign from the issues of development and good governance," he further tweeted.
"With great happiness, the entire nation is looking towards BJP for going to people solely on the issues of good governance and development," he added.
BJP leader Giriraj Singh had embroiled in a controversy after he made a remark that there was no place for people in the country who opposed Modi and should go to Pakistan. A complaint has been registered against him in this regard.
VHP chief Pravin Togadia on Saturday reportedly said that Muslims should be stopped from buying property in Hindu-majority areas. He, however, denied making any such remarks and said that all this was a conspiracy against him. The election commission has sought a tape of his speech.
