Disney's Angelina Jolie starrer 'Maleficent' dominated the domestic weekend box-office making the biggest debut with a huge 70 million dollar opening.
According to Fox News, the fantasy film, which is a retelling of 'Sleeping Beauty' from the villain's perspective, emerged as a hit mainly because of the 38-year-old beauty, despite the bland reviews from the critics.
Dave Hollis, the head of distribution for Disney said that it's Jolie's star power which exceeds borders and genre.
Meanwhile, Seth MacFarlane's 'A Million Ways to Die in the West' starring Liam Neeson, Charlize Theron and Amanda Seyfried opened in third place with 17.1 million dollars.
'Maleficent' earned about 100 million dollars worldwide.
