The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Wednesday asked Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti to respond to the charges of domestic violence made against him by his wife, Lipika Mitra, by June 26.
"[Lipika] has filed a complaint stating that she underwent domestic violence since they were married in 2010. They have two kids and they are also harassed. Bharti has used abuses against her and has threatened to kill her. He has been served with a notice and has been called on June 26," DCW chairperson Barkha Singh told the media.
Lipika has alleged that she has been facing violence at the hands of Bharti since 2010 and has said that she wants a separation in order to live with her children 'with dignity'.
