As Britain's double 2012 Olympic champion Mo Farah turns his attention to the 10,000m gold at the World Championships on Saturday, the 30-year-old has revealed that being written off by legend Haile Gebrselassie inspired him at London 2012.
According to the Mirror, two years after blowing his chance against an unknown Ethiopian in Daegu, Farah insists he is ready to make amends inside the Luzhniki Stadium.
So confident is Farah, he has warned his rivals, all 34 of them, they would be wasting their time by ganging up and trying to bully him out of the race, the report said.
Gebrselassie had said that Farah was a good athlete but questioned if he was good enough to beat the Kenyans and the Ethiopians.
Those words stung Farah and drove him on those two unforgettable nights in London last summer, the report added.
Taking Gebrselassie's words to heart, Farah upped sticks, moved his life to America and teamed up with coach Alberto Salazar and since then the rest of the world has, incredibly, got the better of him only once at an outdoor championships, the report further said.
