A German bank clerk cost the bank 293 million dollars by accidentally transferring funds while lying on his computer keyboard.

While the sleepy worker's supervisor was sacked for not checking the order amount when she was supposed to verify it, the Hessen labor court in Germany where she had taken the case to has asked the bank to reinstate her, the New York Daily News reports.

According to the report, the sleepy worker hit a key repeatedly and cost the bank millions of euros but the bank clerk who was assigned to transfer the relatively small sum of over 80 dollars to the account of the retiree was blamed for the error.

The court statements said that the man had dozed off only for an instant when he accidentally pressed the number 2 key on the keyboard and the transfer was sent for 222,222,222 euros, instead of 62 euros.

While the bank said that it had discovered the mistake and corrected it, the dozer's supervisor remains jobless as she had failed to verify the amount even as the court ruled that the supervisor should have received a caution instead of being sacked.
