Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized gold paste weighing approximately 2750 gms from two different individuals on Wednesday and Thursday.
"Based on specific intelligence, officers of DRI, Hyderabad, intercepted a passenger who arrived from Muscat to Hyderabad on Thursday. On examination, it was found that the passenger was carrying black coloured cloth belt tied around his waist which contained a package containing paste weighing 1850 grams, which on further examination turned out to be having a gold content of 1398.31 grams", officials said.
Further inquiry revealed that the accused was entrusted to deliver the gold to an accomplice outside the RGI airport.
On Wednesday, another passenger, carrying gold in paste form weighing 900 grams was intercepted by the DRI here.
The paste had 738 grams gold content worth Rs 24,57,540, said officials.
The smuggled gold paste was seized under the Customs Act, 1962.
