Manchester United boss David Moyes, who has yet to complete a season at the club, will be sacked this week with the owners considering Holland boss Louis Van Gaal as the under-fire Scot's replacement.
United owners the Glazer family have reportedly decided upon cutting their loses and pull the strings on Moyes' disastrous stewardship just 11 months after the Scot replaced Sir Alex Ferguson as the club boss.
According to the Daily Star, speculations are that United is set on firing Moyes before the end of the week and if the club goes on with its plan, then they are expected to turn to the veteran Ryan Giggs to take charge of the club for the final four games of the season.
However, Van Gaal is reportedly United's most preferred option for Moyes' replacement in order to be the club's next permanent boss at Old Trafford.
The former Bayern Munich, Barcelona and AFC Ajax boss has reportedly made no secrets of his interest to coach United and is looking forward to a chance to manage in the Premier League following this summer's World Cup.
United are also considering other contenders including Jurgen Klopp, Laurent Blanc and Diego Simeone as they face the ultimate humiliation of having to admit that signing Moyes in the first place had been a huge mistake, the report added.
