British appliance company, Dyson is reportedly investing in a new robotic vision lab that would build robots, which could 'understand, see and think' like humans.

The company has invested 5 million pounds in the lab at Imperial College in London where Professor Andrew Davison, would be heading the project.

According to The Verge, the lab would focus on developing 'vision systems that can help robots understand and adapt to the world around them'.

The research would fund the work of 15 scientists on 'domestic robots' as well as robotic vacuum cleaners.

Dyson had previously come closer to launching an automated vacuuming robot in 2001, but shelved it because it was too heavy and expensive.

The company said that mastering this would make people's lives easier and lead to previously unthinkable technologies, the report added.
