EC holds review meeting on Delhi poll preparedness

Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi on Wednesday called upon the Chief Electoral Officer and District Election Officers of National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi to ensure error free electoral rolls for the capital during the on going process of Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls 2015.

In a meeting organized by Election Commission to review the poll preparedness for forthcoming Assembly Elections in Delhi, Deputy Election Commissioner directed the officials to take all possible measures to remove errors, if any, from the electoral rolls as per prescribed law and standing instructions of the Election Commission.

Zutshi also directed the election officials to launch voter awareness drive calling upon voters to check their names in the finally published electoral rolls due to be published on January 5, 2015.

The Deputy Election Commissioner also reviewed poll preparedness for forthcoming elections from District Election Officers and Deputy Commissioners of Police of all districts in the State.

District Election Officers (DEOs) and Delhi Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were asked to undertake exercise of vulnerability mapping, identifying critical polling stations and preparing security deployment plan for the forthcoming Assembly Election.

The DEOs were also directed to ensure preparedness with regard to all areas of election management including manpower requirement, training of human resources and communication plan.

All the DEOs and the DCPs briefed the Deputy Election Commissioner about the poll preparedness in their respective districts.

The meeting held in Election Commission Office was attended by the CEO of NCT of Delhi, Senior Police officials of police headquarter, District Election Officers and Deputy Commissioners of Police.
