Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said Monday that the Election Commission of India (ECI) does not have the right to be biased towards any political party.
"The Election Commission does not have the right to be biased towards anybody," Modi said, while addressing a rally here.
Modi said that in the ongoing elections, the real test for the Election Commission and state election officials will be to ensure free and fair polls in Firozabad.
He also said he will monitor each and every polling booth in the constituency, install CCTV cameras, and after the elections are over, he will set up an inquiry.
Modi also promised that the power to curb honest public officials will be taken away if a BJP administration is installed.
On the issue of clean drinking water, Modi said: "I am surprised that you are situated next to the Yamuna River, but still don't have clean drinking water. Do you get clean drinking water? You have not asked for a Mercedes or a bungalow or some gold jewellery. Only drinking water."
"The government should ashamed that even after 60 years of Independence, people don't have access to clean drinking water," he added.
He reiterated that the new slogan of the UPA Government is 'Mar Jawan, Mar Kisan', and added that the country needs a government which will work for its benefit.
