Cornering the Election Commission over the decision to freeze AIADMK's party symbol 'two leaves', Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday said the poll body needs to read law.
"Sasikala's faction had all the MLAs and the OPS faction had none and yet they froze the symbol. The Election Commission needs to go back and read the law. It has taken many wrong decisions," Swamy said.
He further said the decision to freeze the party symbol was a wrong decision as it was not based on any of the Supreme Court judgments.
The poll panel last month decided to freeze the AIADMK election symbol after representatives of former Tamil Nadu chief minister O. Panneerselvam and party general secretary Sasikala Natarajan factions made their claims for it.
"Neither of the two groups shall be permitted to use the symbol 'Two Leaves' of the AIADMK," the Election Commission had stated.
The poll panel's decision came ahead of the RK Nagar by-polls scheduled on April 12.
However, the poll panel cancelled the by-elections after cash-for-votes allegations surfaced.
