Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has said that he had been disappointed by the attitude of four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel in 2014.
Writing in the official F1 review book, Ecclestone clammed the German for being 'defeatist' as he struggled with his former team Red Bull. He said that he is a super supporter of Vettel but admitted that he is a little bit disappointed with the German's attitude.
Ecclestone claimed that Vettel is acting like a defeated guy and he isn't, adding that that is not the German's mentality. He claimed that the now Ferrari racer is a competitive guy, The BBC reported.
But Ecclestone also said that he was relieved Vettel, champion from 2010 to 2013, had not won a fifth consecutive title. He said that he doesn't believe they could have lived with another Red Bull year, any more than Formula One could have lived with another Michael Schumacher year, in reference to the five straight titles won by Vettel's compatriot from 2000 to 2004.
Vettel, who has holidayed with Ecclestone in the past, used a clause in his contract to leave Red Bull and move to Ferrari for 2015.
Ecclestone also criticised the performance of Ferrari after the team's worst season in 21 years, as well as their lead driver Fernando Alonso. He said that Ferrari was very disappointing, getting lost somewhere, adding that Alonso got a little bit like Vettel halfway through, so he is a little bit disappointed in him, too.
