Ecuador will lobby for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's 'fundamental right' to sunbathe at the embassy where he has been holed up for almost a year.

Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino said that he will be discussing Assange's plight with his British counterpart and ask the government to allow him to sunbathe at the Ecuadorian embassy, reports News.com.au.

Patino said that Assange has not been able to do so from the time he took diplomatic refuge at the embassy in order to escape the questioning over sexual offences, for which he extradited to Sweden.

Assange who has been staying inside the embassy for over a year denies the sexual allegations.

According to the report, Patino said that whistleblower Assange has a 'right to intimacy, mobility and a normal life and health', which is being restricted at the embassy.

Recently, Assange denied having received any consular help from the Australian government as claimed by Senator Bob Carr.
