Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has called for a "religious revolution" asking Muslim leaders across the world to battle the rising extremism.
According to CNN, he said that they do not have the time to lose now while addressing the crowd in a speech at the Prophet Mu?ammad's birthday celebration that coincided with the New Year's Day.
El-Sisi, elected in May after leaving the military to run for the office, stressed on the fact that they need a "religious revolution".
He condemned anxiety, danger, killing and destruction that are taking place around the globe as "antagonizing".
The President also said that they will rebuild the country and accommodate everyone.
